Cartier Santos is one of the most well-known models from Cartier. Not many know that The French jeweler produced some of the first wristwatches in the world in the beginning of the century. Cartier watches are highly collectible and offer a range of options designed over the years. The Santos is considered a modern classic by experts and have gained in popularity in recent years to the point that companies make interpretations such as merchandise and art of the watch. The model was presented in 1978 under the name “Santos De Cartier” with an integrated bracelet and automatic movement. The look of the Santos is very distinguished with a rectangular case. The santos have been produced in different materials ranging from classic steel to solid gold, two-tone and even platinum which is extremely rare. During the mid-eighties the model was re-named Galbée and featured a quartz movement as a sign of the times when battery driven watches was popular. Since then, Cartier has taken back the name Santos and re-engineered the model several times. One of our favorite Santos models is the plain steel version made in the nineties which is what we consider a true classic which is the inspiration to one of our best-selling caps.
